Mount Pleasant – futrhaus Passive Home Construction
futrhaus was a landmark construction project as one of Vancouver’s first residential developments to combine a single-home to multi-unit housing conversion with Passive House green building technology. Energy savings of up to 90% can be expected through the design’s superior insulation, triple-glazed windows, solar orientation, and efficient heat recovery ventilators.
While our home attracted media attention for meeting the City of Vancouver’s desire for sustainability, it’s also a luxury build, expertly engineered with hardwood flooring, high ceilings, an elegant gourmet kitchen with large islands and top-of-the-line appliances. It’s harder to do home construction this way, but there’s a payoff in designing these units to Passive House standards, both in density and energy costs.
